작가노트 

 

이번 Objects 시리즈들은 현대인들의 걱정, 불안감과 소비의 상관관계에 대해서 나타낸다.
많은 시대의 변화를 겪으면서 인간의 역사는 더욱 풍요롭게 발전하였지만, 한편으로는 급격하게 변화하는 사회를 따라잡기 버거웠던, 도태될까 무서웠던 사람들에게 걱정이라는 병을 안겨주었고, 이 때부터 걱정과 인간은 땔래야 땔 수 없는 관계가 되어버렸다.
항상 걱정과 불안과 함께 살아가는 현대인들은 이를 없애기 위해 혹은 잊어버리기 위해 무언가를 원한다. 걱정과 불안이 자본주의 안에서 소비를 증폭시키는것이다. 
우리는 의식적으로 누군가에게 보여주기위해 혹은 무의식적으로 소비를 하고 어느새 점점 우리들의 공간을 많은 물건들이 잠식하게 된다. 하지만 아무리 물건들이 많아져도 우리의 불안감과 걱정은 해소되지않고 이에 공허함과 불안감을 느낀 우리들은 또 같은 행위를 반복한다. 
선반위에 쌓여있는 대부분의 물건들은 쓰여보지도 못한채 결국 먼지만 쌓여 방치되게 되고, 결국엔 버려지고, 또 그 빈자리에는 다시 새로운 물건들이 자리잡고 버려지길 반복한다. 마치 현대인들의 걱정과 불안의 끝은 없다는걸 보여주는것 처럼.

 

 

Artist Statement​

The Objects series indicates the correlation between the worries, anxieties, and consumption of modern people.
Throughout many historical changes, human history has advanced toward much more affluence, but it also produced the disease of worry for people afraid of falling behind, who were unable to keep up with such a rapidly changing society, and from that point on, worry and humans were inevitably linked together.
Modern people who always live with worry and anxiety want something in order to or forget that worry and anxiety. That worry and anxiety amplifies consumption within a capitalist society.
We consume consciously or unconsciously to show off to someone, and before we even know it, our space is overwhelmed with a huge number of objects. However, no matter how many objects we have, our anxiety and worry aren’t relieved, and thus the emptiness and anxiety we feel make us repeat the same behavior.
Most of the objects stacked on our shelves are just left neglected collecting dust, and eventually they’re thrown away until we replace it with new objects repeating the process ad infinitum. As if to show how the worries and anxieties of modern people are endless.
