“까맣게 말라버린 조슈아 나무는 생명의 에너지 분자가 잠시 정지해 있는 상태이다. 하지만 죽은 것이 아니다. 보이지 않는 곳에서 느릿하게 움직이고 있었으며, 재활성을 위한 애너지를 공기로부터 전달받는다. 심연의 시간을 건너 마침내 어느 날, 타버린 듯한 줄기 끝에서 꽃을 틔운다.”
내 작업의 주된 상징체는 조슈아 나무이다.
뜨거운 사막에서 군집체를 이루며 살아가는 조슈아 나무는 태양을 향해 시들어버린 뾰족한 잎을 덮어가며 생존한다. 흙과 공기,가끔 내리는 비 밖에는 없어 보이는 황량한 사막에서 시들어버린 가지 위를 새로운 가지로 덮으며 제각기 다른 방향으로 하늘을 향애 두 팔을 뻗듯이 천천히 성장해 나가는 모습에서 생명의 에너지를 느낄 수 있다,
베란다에 방치되어 있던 화분이 있었다. 노란 잎들이 떨어지고, 죽은 것처럼 말라가더니 어느 날 하얀 꽃이 가지에서 올라왔다, 아무것도 주지 않았는데, 스스로의 생명력으로 살아있음을 증명하는 것 같았다.
겉으로는 죽은 것처럼 보이는 나무 주의의 공기,빛, 자연의 울림은 계속해서 변화하고 음직이고 있었다. 이런 자연의 요소들은 죽어 보이는 것에도 불구하고 주변의 활력과 연결됨을 나타내며, 우리 주변에 항상 새로운 가능성과 에너지가 존재한다는 메시지를 전달한다.
이렇게 탄생한 상상의 꽃과 열매가 맺어진 나무는 재창조된 나만의 조슈아 나무이다.
작업에서 나무는 두 가지 방법으로 표현된다.
조슈아 나무를 느린 선과 마띠에르가 느껴지는 색으로 덮어, 단독으로 또는 군집되어있는 단순하고 직관적인 형태로 표현한 작업들과
나무의 형태를 해체하여, 느리고 유기적으로 움직이는 듯한 선으로 죽음과 생성, 공기의 흐름과 상상의 열매,꽃을 표현한 작업이다.
그리고 이런 작업을 통해, 멈추어 있는 시간도 죽은 것이 아님을, 변화의 가능성과 희망에 관해 이야기 하고 싶다.

Artist Statement
"The darkened Joshua tree is in a state where the energy molecules of life are at rest for a while. But it's not dead. It was moving slowly in an invisible place and received energy from the air for rehabilitation. After crossing the abyss, finally one day, flowers bloom at the end of the burnt-out stem."
The main symbol of my work is the Joshua tree.
Joshua trees, which live in clusters in the hot desert, survive by covering pointed leaves that have withered toward the sun. In the desolate desert, where there seems to be nothing but soil, air, and occasional rain, you can feel the energy of life by covering withered branches with new branches and growing slowly like stretching your arms in the sky in different directions,
There was a pot that was left unattended on the veranda. The yellow leaves fell, dried up as if they were dead, and one day a white flower came up from a branch, giving nothing, but seemed to prove alive by its own vitality.
The sound of the air, light, and nature of woodenism, which seemed to be dead on the surface, was constantly changing and muted. These elements of nature indicate that despite appearing dead, they are connected to the vitality around them, and convey the message that there is always new possibilities and energy around us.
The tree with imaginary flowers and fruits born in this way is my own Joshua tree that has been recreated.
In the work, trees are represented in two ways.
The work of covering Joshua's tree with slow lines and colors that feel Matière, representing it alone or in a cluster of simple, intuitive forms
It is a work that dismantles the shape of a tree and expresses death and generation, the flow of air, imaginary fruits, and flowers with a line that seems to move slowly and organically.
And through this work, I want to talk about the possibility and hope of change, that even time that is stopped is not dead.
