기술의 접점에 있는 나의 머릿속에는 이들 하나하나가 점, 선, 면이 되고 다양한 형태와 색을 띠며 춤을 춘다. 알고리즘 요소 각자의 특징과 색, 목소리가 있고 살아있는 생명체로 느껴질 때도 있으며, 이들끼리 서로 상호작용한다. 파고들어가 보면 기술의 본질은 결국 점들로 구성되어 있고, 이것들이 어떻게 연결되고 구성되는가에 따라 각광받는 기술이 되기도 하고 주목받지 못하는 기술이 되기도 한다. 하지만 기술이라는 진리 그 자체는 변하지 않을 것이다. 우리가 흔히 말하는 사회가 그 일부인 예술과 본질이 다르지 않은 것이다. 적어도 나의 세계에서는 기술이 곧 우리가 사는 세상이자 예술이고, 예술 또한 기술이다. 기술이라고 체계성 안에 갇힐 필요가 없고, 예술이라고 그 반대일 필요는 없다.
작업의 주제는 주로 기술과 함께 바라보는 세상이다. 개인적으로 시각적 자극을 받는 것들은 우주나 건축의 기하학성, 우리 머릿속의 생각이나 관념, 정신적 휴식 그 자체이지만, 모순적이게도 현대 과학기술 사회를 비판하는 주제도 다루는 등 크게 제한을 두지는 않는다. 지금까지 작품들은 디지털 방법들을 접목하여 시각 이미지를 만들어 낸 후, 디지털 프린트 위에 인간의 자유로운 드로잉을 덮어나가는 과정이었다. 일종의 기술과의 협업이자 인간이 그래도 기술보다 우월하고 싶은 본능에 충실한 것이다.
어떤 기법으로 만들어지든 최종 작품은 대중들에게 시각적인 환상과 새로움을 전달하고, 그들의 뇌에 신선한 자극을 주기를 바란다. 작품을 만들면서 내적으로 고뇌하고 가끔씩은 환호성을 쳤던 경험들을 함께 나눌 수만 있다면 그것으로 목적을 달성했다고 할 수 있지 않을까. 과학과 기술로 인해 펼쳐지고 있는 현실 세계의 재해석, 새로운 간접 경험 공유, 마음의 안식, 하지만 가끔은 위험이 도사릴 수도 있는 환상의 세계를 같이 떠나보고 싶다.

Artist Statement
In my mind, at the intersection of technology, each element transforms into dots, lines, and planes, taking on various shapes and colors and dancing. Each algorithmic component has its own characteristics, colors, and voices, sometimes feeling like living beings, interacting with each other. Upon delving deeper, the essence of technology is ultimately composed of dots, and how these dots are connected and composed determines whether the technology is spotlighted or overlooked. However, the truth that is technology itself will not change. The essence of what we commonly refer to as society, which includes art, is fundamentally the same. At least in my world, technology is both the world we live in and art, and art is also technology. Technology does not need to be confined within systematic boundaries, and art does not need to be the opposite.
The main theme of my work is the world viewed alongside technology. Personally, visual stimuli come from the geometry of the universe or architecture, the thoughts or concepts in our minds, and mental relaxation itself, but paradoxically, I also deal with themes criticizing modern science and technological society. Up to now, my works have been a process of creating visual images by incorporating digital methods including customized artificial intelligence, then overlaying free human drawings on digital prints. It is a kind of collaboration with technology and a fulfillment of the human instinct to want to feel superior to modern technology.
Regardless of the technique used, I hope that the final works deliver visual fantasy and novelty to the public, providing fresh stimulation to their brains. If I can share the internal struggles and occasional cheers I experienced while creating my works, I believe I have achieved my goal. I wish to embark on a mind journey through the reinterpretation of the real world unfolded by science and technology, the sharing of new indirect experiences, peace of mind, and sometimes a fantastical world that may sometimes harbor dangers.
